:Re: Is that an instructor w/ you? the one and only nixit. :One of the many reason I love manual sports cars. You can drive the car and get a true feel as you push the car and watch it run threw the gears and have the RPM's at your every control. What tiers where you running out there and brakes? BFG R1s ( i think BFG. pretty sure everyone makes an "r1" tire ). Ps, the general rule of thumb we learned, was you need 1 pound of air for ever 100 pounds of car. Ie, a 2400 pound car = 24 psi of tire pressure. It turned out this was correct. Damon had 48 psi hot on the first day, let some air out and things became more controllable. And the RMSMotorsports Wilwood Brake kit for stock rimmed Zs with Willwood Q pads.
I mean, I've been to more than a few of those things ( not raced in, but seen out in the staging area ), where even the big Brembo disc was fading and something cracking ( drilled hole ones ) on Vipers and 911's. So I know it's gives hell to your pads and disc's, along with rubber. But still fun as hell. for the cheap, I highly recommend; Stock calipers. Brembo slotted or blank rotors; Hawk Blues pads. Stainless lines. AP600 or Motul600 fluid (ONLY). Removal of brake dust shield. Custom twin 2"dia brake ducts. I run in the fastest run group available, rarely get passed, and absolutely never fade. (ie, I am OK quick, and usually clip of 1:32s to 1:34s at hallet, in my own car.)
